DareDevils break three game losing streak

The Delhi DareDevils snapped their three game losing streak thanks to a 17 run victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to get the IPL campaign back on track.

Set with a target of 184 for victory Jacques Kallis and Manish Pandey enjoyed another big opening partnership building an important contribution of 71 runs before Kallis (27), the leading run scorer in this years IPL was bowled by spinner Amit Mishra.

Pandey was joined at the crease by Robin Uthappa but the pair could only add 14 runs to the total before Pandey (39) joined his opening partner back in the dugout after being bowled by Andrew McDonald.

The Royal Challengers were put under further pressure when Rahul Dravid (1) was run out after going for non existent second run thanks to some fine fielding by Kedar Jadhav.

Worst was to follow an over later when Uthappa (15) was caught by wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik after attempting an ill advised reverse sweep to leave the home side 90-4 having lost 4 wickets in the space of 18 balls.

Eion Morgan (15), Mark Boucher (2) and Vinay Kumar (2) fell cheaply to leave the Royal Challengers an up hill challenge which they couldn’t complete snapping their four game winning streak.

Having been out into bat by the home side the DareDevils got off to a sensational start thanks to a cameo from Warner who smashed a quick fire 33 from just 14 balls which included three fours and two massive sixes as the Royals Challengers bowlers were punished by the young Australian.

The fireworks by Warner only lasted three overs before he was caught out at long off by Vinay Kumar to give Dale Steyn the important break through but it laid the platform for the DareDevils to build a big innings.

Virendar Sehwag (12) followed two overs later to leave the DareDevils well placed with the score 58-2 from just 5.1 overs as they looked to break a three game losing streak

AB de Villiers built an important innings of 45 before he was brilliantly ran out by a direct throw from Eion Morgan after he had built a partnership of 33 with Jadhav after the two came together in the 11th over after Karthik (17) was run out.

With the DareDevils reaching 134-4 Andrew McDonald (18) joined Jadhav (50) at the crease and the pair built an important fourth wicket partnership of 49 runs to help the DareDevils reach 183-4 setting the Royals Challengers a tricky run chase.
